THE PROCESS EXPLAINED

1. The group selects a book to read from a recommended selection.

2. Everyone takes turns reading a chapter aloud to the group each day, while another member facilitates the questions for that chapter.

3. Each person writes a chapter summary in Google Docs.

4. A Book Club Mentor, who is an adult who has agreed to support a student, reads the summary and asks questions based that was written.

5. The student revises the summary based on the questions asked.

6. We repeat steps 2 - 5 until the book is finished.

7. The group creates a review either in the form of a podcast, blog entry or video.

8. We publish the review online!

THE PROCESS EXPLAINED

1. The facilitator presents a math problem/task to the learners.

2. The learners take turns saying what they notice or wonder about the problem.

3. The learners take some time working out the problem or doing the task independently.

4. The learners discuss, share, and test out ideas of the group members.

5. The facilitators asks questions and helps students use precise mathematical language to clarify and connect ideas.

art club

THE PROCESS EXPLAINED

1. An art style or technique is introduced to learners.

2. They explore the online tool that they will use to create the art.

3. They create and save a piece of art.

4. They look at each the work of others and discuss the mathematics behind the art and think about the story that each piece tells.

5. They contribute to the art book that the group will produce.  The book will examine the history of each style of art, the mathematics behind the works, and learners will create a story or poem about their pieces of art.
